In recognition of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3, 2020), we present estimates from the 2015–2016 National Study of Long–Term Care Providers (NSLTCP). (Note that starting in January 2020, NSLTCP was renamed the National Post-acute and Long-term Care Study (NPALS).)
- In 2016, 56.5% of residents across all assisted living and similar residential care communities (RCCs) needed assistance with locomotion or walking, and 29.2% needed assistance transferring in and out of bed (From the Long-Term Care Providers and Services Users in the United States, Residential Care Component: National Study of Long-Term Care Providers, 2015–2016). https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nsltcp/2016_NSLTCP_RCC_Weighted_Estimates.pdf
